'Fragrant Cloud'

'Fragrant Cloud' has certainly impressed me considering it started as a 1 1/2 Grade bare root from Regan's spring 2015.

I disbudded most of the first summer, and it sent a late summer basal break that managed to harden off before our exceptionally mild winter 2015-2016.

This season, it has positively taken off. I'm surprised at its general health (light spring/autumn mildew and occasional black spot (on one leaflet so far)), vigour, and floriferousness.

I adore its heavy scent. For myself it's rosy, spicy, and has a peculiar fruity background note that reminds me of bananas, almost.

It's grafted on Dr. Huey with the bud union deep. Southerly exposure.

Camera can't catch the unique coral red/orange, but here are a few photos:

It's very first growth!

A couple weeks ago (25 buds on this flush)

Over three feet tall!

Oh, FC. You steal my heart.

Maintains petal count and retention even in our 85-90°F high humidity late summer weather. Lasts about three to four days.

These buds were quite red the morning the picture was taken, but not so saturated.

Hope y'all enjoy!

Steven
