Not sure of the rest of your style (post a couple of other pictures so we get a better sense of the room and your furniture) but something like this might work. You could have a lamp on one side, a longer / wider stand under the TV - mount it to the wall - and hide the speakers or get one that mounts under your TV. That would give some light and fit the space better.

The other picture would work if your style is more modern - you could find a dark cabinet to mount to the wall like they did and put a lamp and artwork.

I really don't want to purchase a new tv stand. The one I have is new.
