Horsemint/Bee Balm/Thymol

I am reading information about the herbal uses for Horsemint/Bee Balm. I have read that it has strong antiseptic properties. However, one site that I was reading said that it was a strong sedative. If Thymol has strong antiseptic properties, does someone want to use it internally?
