Sure looks like lush, happy Bermuda. If so you might as well embrace it, the climate is right, so you won't get rid of it in the carolinas.

The problem with Bermuda around here is that it doesn't green up until May and then it only stays green for 4-5 months. If you don't mind that, the Bermuda is the perfect grass, spreads fast, nearly impossible to kill except with shade. In that case the easiest thing to do would be to remove some plugs from the bermuda side and plug them into the empty side and let it spread. And spread it will.

If you're looking to go back to fescue then you should nuke the Bermuda, it will crowd out the fescue every summer. Some info on how to accomplish that here.

Thanks so much guys. I have struggled enough with Tall Fescue....it gets too hot in my front yard. So, I will have to go with the Bermuda

I'm in the same boat in Greensboro. It's a big struggle keeping fescue alive during summer, especially without irrigation. Bermuda thrives. Not quite ready to make the jump.

All of my friends that bought new homes in the past 2-3 years have gone with Bermuda. I think Bermuda is becoming the standard in the Triangle area.

Do they overseed with rye in the fall or just leave it brown October through May? That's the deal breaker for me. Of course, I have to overseed with fescue every fall anyway. I'm very on the fence.

I think Zone 8 is creeping up on us, I'd be surprised if we don't get put in it on the next revision of the USDA zones.
