What to do about dining room

last modified: 10 years ago

My dining room was quite traditional and I am in the process of modernizing it. The formerly heavy, Tuscan light fixtures have been changed to what you now see. Tan faux painting on the walls will become a nice soft, light gray color . Chairs will be reupholstered to cooler colors and I am exploring options for a new rug and drapes. Now, my question is whether this table is salvageable as it was not inexpensive. I am wondering if its possible to a) paint the stone bases and give them a new look b) purchase new pedestal bases and keep the glasstop. Alternatively, my budget for a new table would be around $2000 which os less than than what this table cost oroginally so the quality would presumably not be as good. Thank you in advance for your responses.

These are the two new tables I am considering:
