Hi, I am currently redoing my front lawn. I can't commit to putting in irrigation yet, but will in the next year or two. But it seems silly to dig up the lawn again in a couple years to do so. Since I'm not committed to any particular system, I am wondering if there's a size and type of line I can put in before the new lawn is down that can be used on most any sprinkler system/brand I'll choose.

The lawn size it's about 40' by 17' (garden to street) with a 4' concrete walkway roughly up the middle. The water source is on the side of the house. It's really just the lawn, not the gardens, I'm interested in irrigating. I'm wondering 1) if there is a type of line I should use for this situation? 2) what is the typical layout for a lawn of these dimensions, i.e. one line up the middle with heads in the middle or branches with heads on the side or multiple lines on either side? 3) what size lines to use? and, 4) Is it worth putting in heads and branches now or should I wait to do this until I know more about the system (brand) I'll use, etc., i.e. should I just stick with putting in a main line?

I know there would still be some digging in my future by not doing it all now, but I don't want to miss an opportunity to put in at least a couple main lines and branches if it will minimize lawn damage in the future.
