I find Golden Hahnii to be extremely difficult to have. I've been struggling with one for 6 months

I think that Golden Hahnii leaf is going to surprise every one. With all that yellow, it may give you a 'Solid Gold Hahnii' or a variegated light green one from the center portion. Please keep us updated.

I'm really surprised by the speed the golden hahnii leaf made roots, this plant is sturdier than I tought ! If the pup is really withish won't it die ?

It sounds like your leaves are rooting quite well, but as winter approaches, if you have any issues, you might try heating them from the bottom. My apartment is quite cold in the winter, so I put Reptitherm heaters under my Sans, and they took off and started pupping within a few weeks. They seem to like being really hot. Reptitherms are 120 degrees or something, so roots don't grow in the bottom inch of the pot, but they colonize the rest. I just ordered a couple more heaters to keep up with my growing Sans collection.

I thought about buying one of those terrarium heating pads, but I'm a little worried about the electricity bill :p

They cost pennies to operate. I'm currently running 3 minis and a medium, and my electric bill doesn't appear any higher to me. I'm exceedingly cheap, so I'd notice. :-D

Check the wattage. Anything that heats uses power. So if the wattage is low, it's going to be easy on the elect. bill. That's why I use shop lights. Low wattage. Cost is approximate 10 cents per 1000 watts used every hour. Remember with a thermostat it turns it on and off. Count only time it's on. Same with timer on lights.

The Reptitherm package says their heaters range from 4-24 watts. My largest says it uses 8 watts. I can't find anything on it that says how hot the heater itself gets, but I can always rest a hand on it comfortably.

BTW, I just read that all but the smallest of mine are supposed to be on glass, not plastic or acrylic. Oops.

Kwie, that is extremely low wattage. Nothing to worry about. Watts = Power = Heat displacement. That is less than most light bulbs sold today.

Yep, It didn't seem to make any difference to my electric bill.

You know, Stush, they'd work great with your setup, if it could stand to be a little warmer. They do get too warm for roots in about the bottom inch or so of the pot though- depending on the growing medium, pot type, etc.

This winter I might setup an aquarium something like yours. All my Sans did fine last winter, but this apartment is cold and damp, and keeping them warm was a pain in the ass.

this morning watering my "babies" I saw this little guy poking !

The leaf is a "Sans. Twisted Sister", so the baby will be plain green but i wonder if the "twist" will be here at all.

Congratulations! It'll be interesting to see whether they have twisted leaves. I'm always curious about the genetics. Hope you'll keep us informed.

Yes it is a 50/50 mix of both.

Well, I had one other pup on the mother plant and it had tiny green edges since the beginning, I think this one will stay completely white. I hope another greener one will pop one the same leaf but it isn't very likely.

Yes, I do it for the fun, to see how cultivars caracteristics propagate. For reproduction I wait for "natural" pups to show on my plants. It's not really fast either but at least those one grow pretty fast once they start showing.

This thread demonstrates so well what a SLOW process it is to propagate Sans from leaves. It requires so much patience.

A little update on my pups, some of the august 2016 batch are doing well, others are still biding their time. I'm thinking of cutting my 2017 batch, maybe next week ...

First of all, this little guy finally showed some green, I'm keeping a close eye on it. I hope it will become big and healthy.

These three Hahnii Silver are growing fast, and they look exactly like the mother plant. I'll cut another leaf (or two) from it this year, it's one of my favorites !

As expected, Twisted Sister leaf cuttings reversed to Hahnii, I'll have to wait for my mother plant to pup by herself to multiply it.

This Kirkii Silver Blue is growing well.

And finally, this Silver Princess leaf cuttin pupped, I saw this tiny guy yesterday (it was cut in august 2016) !

Stush, I hope that the timing will help it grow. We have an incredible heat wave in France right now and several of my Sans. are already showing new leafs or pups. From now on I expect at least tree months of high temperatures to help this little one grow a few leaves, if they show green it'll be good.

Hello, a little update about my "homemade pups" :

My Kirkii Silver pup grows fast, it doesn't seem very "silvery", I hope the color is inherited from the leaf cutting. I'll have to wait a little longer to be sure.

The strange Golden Hahnii pup is ... still strange, the variegation seems very random on each leaf, and it grows slowly. It hasn't got much green on it, so I expected a slow growth ! I hope this one will survive the winter.

The three Hahnii Silver are growing fast. I made five more leaf cuttings from the mother plant this year.

Last but not least, the three leaf cuttings from my Kirkii Pulcra Coppertone have produced two pups (I hope the last one will appear soon). The pup are growing, in the upper corner of the pot you can see the mother plant, the pups will quickly overgrow it !

In the right corner are the Silver Hahnii leaf cutting I made two month ago.
