'Giant Sungold' and 'Orange Sun' sunflowers

Some photos of blooms from a couple days ago. Will have to do a better job of keeping track of which ones were Orange Sun and Giant Sungold next year.

Thank you Twros! I am so amused by these, they are so much fun! The green centers gradually turning orange as petals form. The petal are krinkly.

I have them lined up against the house to protect them from the hail. The earwigs love the leaves though.

On my drive to work, someone has another variety with huge heads and their plants are as tall as their house!!!

Still going strong, pic from two days ago. My guess is the taller are 'Orange Sun.' Unfortunately a couple have died from a basal stem rot, I might not be planting them in the same spot next year....

These are gorgeous...I planted plenty of Sunflowers , I was admiring my neighbours own but no idea these were sunflowers, I have to get some for next year . The one I have now the squirrels are just totally in love with them

Pulling this thread up as a follow-up. Year two of planting these seeds, and 'Orange Sun' is definitely more vigorous as a seedling than 'Giant Sungold.'

'Orange Sun' germinated within a day, and shows a more vigorous root system compared to 'Giant Sungold.'
