I have some epiphyllum like that and have not tried to clean it off. I was going to try a damp cotton ball.

I usually use damp paper towels, but those whitish smurdges seem to come back when the leaves dry. My Jade had the same kind of marks and only the new leaves are clean and shiny. I bought it more than a year ago and cleaned it with paper towels 3 or 4 times with no effect.

I don't know if I can use diluted black soap and rinse it with distilled water, but before I try I'd like some input from you guys. If nobody has any idea I think I'll try on a little surface and wait some time to see if it's harmless.

I use a mix of mostly water with a very small amount of Bonide 'Captan' spray. It leaves a small amount of whiteish color behind. I don't want shinny leaves that could rot at the crown so the Captan helps. Not a big deal to me. If I wanted shinny leaves try olive oil mixed with water with a few drops of dish soap.
