I think the ideal seeding time that far up north is about two weeks ago. Some people like and recommend Scott's EZ seed. Whatever you do, don't use straw, leave the seed bare or use peat moss or grass clippings if you have to cover it.

Appeciate your information. I won't be able to seed for two weeks, going out of town, when coming back will that be too late? I have to be here to water it daily. We are still getting mid to upper 80 degree weather.

I'm not familiar with Indiana weather, the question is how long will the grass have to establish before really cold weather sets in? I didn't ask what you're seeding, but if you're seeding KBG that can take up to 3 weeks to germinate, especially in cooler temps. So you'd be pushing into mid-October for germination, seems late to me, but maybe someone further up north can chime in.
