I received a rendering and feel like it isn't even close to the look I am going for.

It looks like the inspiration hood's chimney top is set back from the bottom trim. The bottom trim is thinner (she has it at 8 in). And, the smaller trim is much thinner than in the rendering. the angle is too sharp, maybe. I was thinking 30" across top, but she thinks 27?

I love the inspiration hood. Even though it is large, it looks much more delicate and simple than the rendering. The rendering looks big and bulky to me.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

You're probably right about some of the dimensions (width of bottom trim and angle from bottom to top), but it seems to me like the biggest difference is the molding. In your inspiration, it's narrow and square without any angles. The molding she's using in the rendering is more like a crown, with an angled profile, and thicker. It gives the hood more of a french country vibe in the rendering. Maybe you can ask for a thinner molding with a simple square profile?

I have crown for the upper to sort of soften the lines of the cabinets. So, figured I would need it on the hood. It's a pretty simple small crown.

Since the cabinets are beaded, maybe have the smaller trim rounded? That might work.

Your inspiration pics, except for the first one, have a very minimal crown. The one you are showing seems thicker, and so will be more pronounced in the overall look (more like your first example). But, that's fine if you are happy with the crown. I was actually referring to the trim at the edges of the bottom band being thicker than your inspiration pic and angled. Are you saying it's not actually angled, just looks that way in the rendering? It's hard to tell - to me it looks similar to what's being used for the crown. Even if it's square, it still looks too thick. I think your idea of rounded could work, too, if it's thinner.

Yes, the bottom trim is not angled, but squared off. And, I agree 100%, it is to thick and looks too chunky.

This is the crown we have. It was the one that seemed least tied to a particular style. It also looked similar to the one in the first photo. The cabinets are 42 tall and i didn't want them to make the crown look too dinky.

So, keep the chimney slant I had, reduce the bottom band to around 6 inches with added rounded thin trim on bottom and top, maybe 1/2 an each? I think that could get the same soft feel the inspiration hood has and tie into the cabinets at the same time?
