I like Darzy's idea but think your room needs some color as it's rather dark. If you go with wood art, then maybe think about adding changing your pillows to add some color there.

Your room would benefit from additional lighting. Just borrow some lamps from other rooms to test out the affect. Shades in the drum shape will throw light upwards as well as down.

Get rid of the pillows that match the chair in fact IMO too much furniture for such a small space art as mentioned choose some colors from it for pillows in much lighter color, some other lighting than just an overhead and I really dislike clocks in almost any space except bedrooms and maybe the kitchen so something else on that wall

I like Mark's idea of bringing in a painting with color that can be used in a few places to brighten up the room. It looks like the brick fireplace goes up to the ceiling so it would be pleasing to the eye to line up the top of the painting over the sofa with the top of the brick fireplace.

If you love symmetry, how about matching narrow mirrors flanking the fireplace, then matching plant stands and ferns in front of the mirror? The mirrors will help lighting as well. Since there is more wall width on one side, just hang the mirrors the same distance from the FP to look symmetrical. Before you spend $$$$ on mirrors, maybe just try those narrow framed mirrors designed for behind a bedroom door? You can hang on the wall and see if you love it. If so, then search for upgraded mirrors.
