For the last 10 years; I've been waiting for the cops to come knocking on my door because of how bright my house is at night, but no visitors yet. lol

They make it impossible to grow here in our county. Can't grow around the schools, city limits (inside grow only),can't grow in rural residential and the list goes on.

Rob, I know what you mean! My walk-in basement glows intense at night in winter. But if the cops ever show up to inspect, they'll learn more about the cultivation of succulents than they will ever want to know by the time I am done lol And free adenium seedlings for one and all!

This thread was for the Doksawai seedlings, right? It's gotten so long. Waaay, too long. Please start a new one for the new KO seedlings. I planted some on Feb. 19, so they are still popping up out of their seed starter "pillows." I also planted some seeds (light pink) Roger sent me and got an incredible 100% germination on that one.

My Doksawai seedlings made it intact living outdoors through our 70º F "tropical winter." They just didn't grow much. I just repotted them last week @ 5 mos. They are the 11 (looking for that purple!) in front with the red labels:

Not the ones you sent me (those are special), but the ones I sent you. I sent out mixed seed packets of the same ones I sent you but included whites. I sent Francesco a mixed seed packet containing mine plus one each of yours (he's a gem).

"Progress: 2017 KO Seedlings" sounds good for the new thread ... That way, anyone around the world who purchased KO seeds from the latest catalogue can post their results. Surely, many will have the same seeds we purchased.

Don't be concerned about that first one. Looks like a genetic trait for crispum. We'll see what happens as the tree gets older. Are you sure that's a Doksawai?

I'm looking at this on my phone. It appears you've either repotted these seedlings a bit raised or their roots are pushing them up out of shallow pots ... I am judging by the original soil line on the seedlings. Which is it? Seedlings should remain planted at their original depth until maturity (age 3 yrs.) to allow the caudex to develop. After age 3, you can begin exposing the caudex 1" at a time yearly.

I have a 1 y/o with 6.5" hips fully underground in a 10" pot to allow the roots to continue to develop. I also have a 3 y/o from cutting that has developed an impressive root mass resembling a small caudex. I am keeping it below ground another year or two to see how much it can grow. Will post update photos soon..

Yes those are the Doksawai. I didn't raise them when I re potted but I didn't cover their roots entirely. I planted them as they were. Some were exposed so I left them that way.

I reposted it. It there thus time, just no pictures of the flowers. That's where I lost it each time. So I will wait

I recommend covering those tender young roots to where the tan line is.

Can't imagine what is happening with your threads. If you're posting from your phone, try a laptop. I noticed sometimes I have problems with the phone app.

I've tried again and it shows and says posted, then I go back to open it and it's gone.

You can email gardenweb@houzz.com and request a deletion of the multiple threads created due to technical issues. Let them know when the threads were created, how they are entitled, and that they are on the Adenium forum. Be sure to let them know which specific one (date & time generated) you wish to keep posted.

Thank you, did that, they said they were having problems over the weekend. They deleted the other posts, so it is up. I had to separate the pictures though

root ball looked like this on all 3they are now 6 months old and potted up to 6" plastic pots. Pot almost looks too big, but they were pushing up out of the 4inches.

Nice growth, Alma. Nice to see them self branching. Mine are 6 months old and still small in comparison from stalled growth due to cold 68-72 overnight temps and lots of rain in Jan/Feb. They are in 4" pots.

So how many Doksawais did you end up with? I have 11 ... 1 died when I cut its root at 1.5 months. Will try again then it gets warmer. Mine have mostly skinny single roots, which I don't like at all. I want legs on mine ... I want them walking!

Just the three is all I have on the Doksawai. Yeah, I'd like the nice roots also. But I didn't want to disturb these. I put them in their pots just as they came out. I will be moving the ones from the crates to yogurts this weekend.

Alma, your seedlings look awesome! I planted mine are Aug 21, 2016 mine are tiny compare to yours. I was being cheap with not giving them as much light or heat but good thing is that are did survive the winter tho.

We been having nice weather so I did bring them outside for some fresh air but they're back in at night because it's around 50's or less at night but the rain and cooler weather is coming back again so back inside they go.

Here are some pic of them:

some are branching out nicely, tallest one is around 5 inches and the smallest one is 1 inch lol

They survived, that's what counts. That little one is a cutie, so tiny!

Gotta love the runts, Ann! I have 2 or 3 Doksawai runts. Hang in there, little guys! So you have 7 altogether? So happy for you that they survived the winter.

Yes 7 of them. So tiny compare to Alma's godzilla over there lol. They need some catching up to do. They are still in 3 oz cups. I am waiting for the weather to warm up and for them to grow a little more then move them up to a bigger pot.

This is great ... another opportunity to learn from different growing cultures.

I wonder if they will all catch up to each other by August, regardless of the winter growth stall on mine and Ann's. I also wonder how that stall will affect blooming ... These can potentially bloom this summer. I hope we all get great purples.

My last update photo was just a month ago on Feb 26th (see above). There is no notable difference.

I do hope for some blooms, I have such bad luck with blooms. They end up loosing their flower buds early on.

Make sure you're feeding weekly @ 1/4 strength and that they have enough light and water. Do not change anything when they're in bud, especially location, which can make a plant lose all its leaves, let alone its blooms.

Mine have lost buds when the weather changed abruptly. I don't even get upset and just let them do whatever they will do. They've been warned about my #1 policy, given my limited space: "There is no room for non-performers on prime real estate!" I'm going to have that burnt into a wooden piece and hang it in the yard.
