The herbicide will have no effect on seeding new grass. But whether NOW is a good time to seed is more dependent on the type of turf grass you grow. I am not familiar enough with MD to know if that area features warm season grasses or cool. Cool season grasses are best seeded in the cool of fall rather than when temperatures remain high, so waiting until later this month or even next is advised. You may want to check on the Lawn Care forum or your regional forum for more localized advice.

Check with your University of Maryland Cooperative Extension Service but they will tell you that seeding a new lawn is best done between August 15 and October 15 for the cool season (Kentucky Blue Grass, the fescues, etc.) grasses. What you want is time for the grass seed to germinate and grow quite well before the colder weather of winter sets in which will slow, but not stop, turf grass growth.

You do have time yet to seed that turf grass but do not wait too long.
