Rose mutation or something else?

Hi everyone, I have been growing roses for about 3 years now. This site got me started, and now I am hooked like the rest of you and could not imagine life without my roses. However, this year something happened that I had never seen before. My first year I bought 2 Grande Dame rose bushes and they have been great, but this spring one of them went awry. Half the bush had Grande Dame blooms and the other half had something else. I looked up the parentage and saw that Grande Dame's parents are Meredith and Wild Blue Yonder. These blooms looked alot like Wild Blue Yonder. I decided since I already had another Grande Dame that I would cut off that half of the bush and see if I could get a Wild Blue Yonder for my garden, but since the first spring flush the bush has never again bloomed despite the fact that it is in full sun and has been fertilized and watered well. Now I am wondering if I did have Wild Blue Yonder or if it was something else altogether. Don't know if I should wait another season or just shovel prune it. Ideas???
