some species will send out new shoots from the main stem and these will flower when they get long enough. Other species send out flowering racemes from the old wood or main stem, mainly in certain sections of passiflora.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I also confirmed your comment by someone saying you need to prune the vine back pretty severely in the spring when it starts growing and the main stem will send out numerous new shoots which will continue the flowering process. I already can't wait until next spring...its such a beautiful flower!
