Which seeds to save

Ron Benson

My grandfather, (born in 1880), grew a field pea most of his life, and he saved seeds from year to year. My dad started growing this pea in the early '60s, and I have been growing it for over 30 years. I know how to save the seeds.

What I want to know is which specific seeds I should be saving. Currently, I save the best pods - no blemishes, missing seeds, or insect damage, and the largest pods. I then plant the largest seeds from those pods.

Is there a better way? If there is a superior pod, but it's missing a seed, should that disqualify that pod>

Thanx,

Ron
