I am out at the moment, and I'm a terrible artist, but I'll try in a bit.

My idea though is using 1/2-1 inch pvc with 4 way connectors for the hoop and cross structure. If you needed a shade cloth on just the very top, you could create a structure to support that the entire length by running two sets of supports of pvc down the length.

I greenhouse w UV Protective Plastic or other material w 60% shade cloth on hottest of day side and above. Problem w shade cloth on whole thing is that it will not break the wind. If the side rolled up by 3ft on both sides and tables w plants where at a level just slightly higher so that wind is beneath plants. Good air flow at high points.

Many of the Adenium lovers that I know of in Arizona do use 60% shade cloth either inside or just it alone w no solid covering.

Mine is made from a metal framed structure that people buy to put over a vehicle or use as a storage area, then cover w a tarp. Mine is covered w UV Protected 30ml Plastic, vents, screen door, windows w screens & roll-up sides.

Thanks everybody, I've got an idea in mind I'm hoping works. I want to fully enclose a pvc/pipe structure with 6mil plastic and put a shade screen on top. Then I will cut large vent holes down the sides that can be open or closed and add a zipper door front and back for further airflow. Cross your fingers it will hold up to a monsoon storm! I still have my doubts :/

I think my pergola is perfect for your purpose. Screen on all sides and transparent corrugated roofing over top screen, with removable shade cloth inside for when I want shade. It doesn't look it but insect screen actually blocks a lot of light. Enough, for example, to keep my haworthias out of full sun.

Another thing that surprised me is that just bug screen blocks out a lot of breeze as well. I'm seriously considering installing a power outlet in there so I can put a ceiling fan.

Even plastic sheets will create a hot house and require serious ventilation--it's the enclosure, not so much the material. So if you're not planning to heat or humidify this structure in the winter, using just screen is probably your best bet. The top part can still be some kind of poly tarp.

Hm. Hang on. If wind is a big problem, one side can be poly as long as the rest of the sides are open.
