    Good afternoon, you can rotate the faucet in order to establish the handle on either side.

      The diameter of this faucet is 1 3/8".

      Does the water lever stop at the faucet - perpendicular to the counter top - or do you have to push it back toward the back splash for the cold or hot water?

      Yes, it stops at the faucet and will not go any further back. It will move forward 90 degrees but not back towards the backsplash.
