Exterior window and door trim

We are trying to finalize the details on our large home renovation, and the exterior trim and siding is one place that I'm a bit stuck. We do have an architect, and we're happy with the overall layout and design, but I'm undecided on what direction to take the style (farmhouse vs. shingle vs. cottage, etc.).

Has anyone come across good resources for trim styles and siding options? I want to find something that's appropriate for the neighborhood, and looks charming and well-integrated with the overall design, but not break the budget on expensive details or tons of labor. Our architect is working hourly at this point, and I'd like to get a clear sense of the direction we'd like to go before asking him to draw anything more.

Here is the front elevation:

The rear is just a full shed dormer along the back.

Thanks! It's been a group effort, with some very helpful input from a few on these boards. Definitely good to have extra eyes looking at things, especially after so many months of decisions. I'm just worried about all of these final choices! I don't want to ruin everything with wrong trim/siding, lights that don't complement it, etc.

Still need to work out the eave details, but thinking this might work for the window casing. Maybe window boxes on the left lower windows? What do you think of the combination of shingles and clapboard?

I'd fix the issue with the garage roof. Looks like you have a porch there, and the roof should go up - or the door and window sill should go down.

Thanks, Naf_Naf. It definitely looks funny in elevation (and somewhat so in real life) but these are actually existing conditions. We will be residing and reroofing these areas, but trying not to touch them otherwise. I'm hoping the contractor can pull back the overhang a bit at the side stoop so it's not so low. Also will be adding all of the coordinating overhang details to the garage and sunroom as well.

ILoveRed, we've looked at that window a couple of ways. One option was to shift the windows more toward the front door, but that's not my preference from the inside. It leaves a very small wall in between the windows and the front door. Also, I'm hoping to put our Christmas tree in the window to the right, and it would be much less visible if we shifted all the windows to the left (may seem like a trivial consideration, but I love Christmas, and the tree will be up for 1/12 of the year). Our architect pointed out that no matter how these are all aligned, it is rare that we will be looking at it from straight on anyway.

It will be fine. A little quirk that adds to the charm of your house.
