Rutgers is available as in indeterminate and Celebrity is a semi-determinate but neither is commonly noted for fantastic taste as I think you'll discover once you taste Big Beef. But note that it will be a much larger plant than you are used to dealing with so plan accordingly.

Dave - We each have our own preferences for taste. Rutgers is my all-time favorite for taste. It has that old fashion acidy taste. Now Rutgers Ag School has developed the Rutgers 250 to try to replicate the original Rutgers of the 1940s. I think they were successful. The taste is excellent and the plant is productive, although the fruit are rather small. In an earlier post on another thread I said mine were determinate. Well now, since the weather has cool off a little, the plant has developed a new crop. So, I'll have to agree that it is semi-determinate.

I agree with you about the 250 and grow several species of Rutgers every year. But as I said it isn't commonly referred to as "fantastic" by most growers when compared to other varieties. It is an acquired taste. But there are fully indeterminate strains of it available too.
