It's cool that there's a splashy 'RHP' now, too. My 'RHP' is solid green and very succulent...

My RHP is the same way--solid medium green leaves with no speckling, solid deep burgundy new growth that fades to green, and very thick older leaves....on the other hand I have another alleged RHP that has larger bright green leaves, some speckles, and new growth that is randomly splotched with burgundy; the leaves are only moderately succulent. This one has not flowered for me, so I can't guarantee it's RHP....I think the whole pubicalyx genus is, to use a science-y term, "poorly understood"....

Ouuu.....you gals got PLANTS. By the time I got to them, I had to get cuttings. Oh well, at least I got that. What size are the plants?

mairzy_dotes The plants are in 4 inch pots. She did not have cuttings listed. Just 4 plants in 4 inch pots that sold out. Did you contact her and ask her to sell a cutting?

Yes, I asked her if she had any more, and she said she had these cuttings, so I got a couple. I wish she had had more plants but she didn't.

Well, at least you got the cuttings. Better that her being completely sold out!

Thanks partycat. For drainage they are in plastic pots but then i slip them into a range of decorative pots. Anything from modern, to antique, to retro. Ive kinda been into the retro macrame hanging stuff lately. Hoyas look quite cool in those :))) my furnitures a mix of antique japanese and 60s mid century modern. It all goes well i think. Plus the hoyas are great for air purification indoors.

Richard, Can you give more information on Fukiran? I googled and found the Fukiran Society. Who are the best online sellers and will they grow in a similar manner to Hoyas? I see you have a pretty sophisticated set up with lights.

a wonderful book on fragrant plants is The Fragrant Path by Louise Beebe Wilder 1936. This is the classic in the field of fragrant plants.

Partycat. Funny i just got my copy of that book last week via amazon.lol. kristen at new world orchids or satomi at seed engei are both great sellers. The scent and endless types of fukiran are addictive. Lol. Very easy to grow indoors or ourside.
