Pre-fab cabinets, countertops and do everything yourself. It can be done.

No cup pulls just basic stainless handles unfortunately. The labor was only a few hours that was paid out and the counters are custom made for the kitchen which was $1,000 of the budget.

The tiling and everything else was done by me, so that reduces the cost drastically. The cabinets are from an outlet store and surprisingly are ply wood box, all have soft close, lazy susan in the corner, pull out garbage, and 36" wall cabinets, it's just a matter of finding the places and the inconvenience of picking them up. The lights I found at Lowe's on clearance for $12 a piece.
