You may just be a little late :-) Nurseries here in Kitsap carry them but are pretty much sold out by now as they are currently in full bloom in gardens. Especially as the bulbs themselves are inclined to bloom freely without even being planted so are even more enticing on the nursery shelves!! I'd start looking for them in early to mid August if you don't find any now.

I don't remember them being anywhere close to that!! More like $6.99, IIRC.

Colchicums show up in late summer as one of the very first fall planted bulbs (along with saffron crocus) so yes, you did miss your opportunity. Start looking for them around the end of August/beginning of September. They are often sold as lose bulbs you pack yourself in provided brown paper bag. They come in a range of prices but usually about 6-7$ for a regular bulb to about 10$ for something a bit more rare or showy. 15$ would be a price of something particularly rare and more of a collector's item.
