Hello! Personally, I like to leave them under a light until they root, and then I put them into regular sunlight. I don't use plastic bags unless it's winter, and if they're in bags, I don't take them out and put them in direct sunlight until babies appear.

do you know about how intense the light is? I use CFL's.

Hi again, I actually just put them under any basic lamp with a 60 watt bulb, or under my Ott-Lite if there's space on my desk. Perhaps this is a major faux-pas among the experts, but any leaves I've done this with have rooted within four weeks all year round. I find that rooting them in damp vermiculite first works even faster--a few rooted in two weeks in January--but this might not be the case with other environments or more sensitive varieties.

Just under a table lamp. :) I'm in a valley in zone 7a, so it's humid enough that the leaf can do well in sunlight after rooting under a lamp.

I had a leaf broken off during a early spring shipment, so I stuck it in a little bathroom cup, and only occassionally paid it any attention (just water when I thought of it). I put in in a SOUTHERN window, because I didn't really care...and here's what I have today (in almost full sun in that southern window).
