Typically polymeric sand comes in two colors: gray or tan (beige). This was regular #30 mesh sand (hence the beige appearance) that got stabilized/hardened by using our paver sealer which also interacts with the (regular) sand to harden it. However now all our jobs get "polymeric sand" which is sand with glue polymers that get activated when hit with a light spray of water. We use and are certified applicators of the Seal 'N Lock product.

What did you use for the edge of the driveway?

Hi Karla, we used the same 3 piece random pavers for the borders. For the field, we peppered in the larger 15x15” squares (sold separately on pallets) at approx. 25% to 75% of the standard 3 piece random pallets. Note, on this job we used regular #30 mesh silica sand which one can purchase at Home Depot and we locked it down using a specialty paver sealer that helps to “stabilize” or hardened the sanded joints. It is best to use Polymeric Sand like Alliance’s new G2 which is easier to apply and doesn’t stain. It comes in 2 colors - gray or beige. The beige is a little cheaper in price per 50lb bag. It comes out looking like the #30 mesh sand (beige). Over time as it gets dirty it will tone down to a brownish color. You can use either with Belgard’s Victorian color blend. Typically I use the gray though with the Victorian. Note: If you are going to seal the pavers, you should let the polymeric sand “cure” for a few days before applying the sealer.
