Maybe you should just use clay pots if that is what works better with your climate. They do make those plant holders with wheels you could use under the pots if they're too heavy to move around.

I can't find large clay pots at a reasonable price. I gave the plastic a trial run because I like the colors, but for my large plants, I can only find plastic in the large sizes I need. I was thinking maybe I need use a more gritty mix in plastic? Idk...

And my plastic pots have more drain holes than the 1 at the bottom of the clay.

My large bats stay fat, but not smaller ones.

I don't have any bats and don't know what causes the folding but my jaboa/aubrytiana has leaves like that since I've had it. The new ones are fine though.

Have you tried looking for clay pots at a garden center or nursery? My local garden center has reasonably priced clay pots. What about lowes or homedepot? They could be having a clearance sale now.

Katrina, I see now what you meant by 'folding'. I see your Leopard Bat is from me, leaves should be thick, stiff, and in a U-shape. So leaves are naturally sort of folded.

What is the dark-colored sans in the 2nd pic, does it have an ID? That largest leaf looks like it could be completely normal.

Sinus simiorum. It has folded some since I got it although not nearly as bad as the leopard bats. I have 3 and all of them are folded, although I only lost roots on 1.

I'll show my bats tomorrow. I didn't think to photo them this evening.

Here are my leopard bats. They have the worst case of folding. The one that is completely closed has no roots. The sinus simiorum above isn't as bad, so hopefully I can correct the problem before long. None of my hallii, large or small, have the folding issue. They all get watered at the same time so idk why my leopard bats get like that.
