Dining Room Chairs - Help! need to buy chairs today (to catch a sale)

What dining room table sizes are best with 18" deep chairs versus 26" deep chairs? i'm looking at a rustic farmhouse trestle table. its 8' long x 42" wide. Is 26" too deep? just want them to look substantial enough with such a large table?
