I bought some of those at Big Lots for 8$each. They look cool,but you must use a very chunky mix. I almost killed my shooting star hoya because of root rot .I had to take it out of the inner pot and let it totally dry out,and give it a strong dose of GFF to stop the rot.Fill the outer pot with water and place the empty inner pot inside it and wait 24 hours to see the amount of water that will seep through.I had about 1/8th inch of water in the inner pot which is way too much for most hoyas. You may have to adjust the amount of water in the outer pot to vary results.

I brought one of those but it is only to be used for a heavy pachyclada. I dont use it for watering.

Thanks. I think I may use a net pot as an inner pot to the inner ceramic pot with an orchid bark mix that's chunky. I could test with a Carnosa as those are pretty tough plants.

I got them for $4 and thought they were too pretty to pass up. :-)

Yay! I'm glad you like the idea. Your Hoyas are always so gorgeous and healthy, so if you like and approve of the idea, I'm sure we'll be successful.

As Jimmy said, you must test to see how and whether the water moves through the wall of the inner pot. I read this on an earlier post somewhere on GW. I had two pots and after testing them found that water didn't move through at all. So I used a ceramic bit on my drill to make a hole in the bottom of the inner pot. This way I can put a wick in to keep the plant properly watered. I don't know that I would use it for a Hoya though. I have a Selaginella in mine and it is very happy.
