If they are called outdoor speakers, they are usually rated for all-weather use. But I would go the manufacturer's website and look up the particular model you are interested in to find out the specific recommendations.

If you want to submerge them then you need "Underwater" speakers. Check out The Diluvio speaker by Clark Synthesis. Otherwise if they are just subject to rain and such any speaker that is "weather" rated will do. To be case you can also go with Marine speakers.

Yes it is. These are the same speakers as used in the Cirque de Soliel production of "O" as well as the U.S. Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team. They are solely for producing rich and full sound underwater. We have installed these in two homes so far. The first was an underwater photographer who build a 15ft deep swimming pool in Venice, CA and wrapped his home around it so you could jump into the pool from any window or door facing the pool The basement had a 1ft thick lucite window when he wanted to take photographs from dry land. The other was a District Attorney who lives in Venice, CA that built a lap pool in his front yard.

Well we do our best to fulfill people's audio/video wishes even when they seem a bit crazy to everyone else. Never thought I would be jumping in a pool to install speakers though!!

Yeah I can imagine! I guess the crazy ones are far more interesting anyhow if you ask me. :)

Yea I just wish the pool contractor heated the pool prior to install. It was 59 degrees when I jumped in. Brrrrrrrr......

Many years ago I lived in San Diego. Arguably the best weather in the country.

Average summertime temperature around 72 degrees. So, the pool temperature was 72 degrees unless heated. 72 degrees is way too cold - I would guess the winter pool temperature was around 59 degrees.

Yea I put the speakers in the pool in January in the morning and that was the temp of the pool. The pool guy said he would heat it prior but forgot.

I remember one year my son came out to San Diego for Thanksgiving. I turned on the pool heater and when he arrived you could see the water vapor leaving the pool looking like steam.

Son asked if this was normal. I replied to the effect that it was - I mean everyone in San Diego has a heated pool. (It was costing me a dollar an hour to run that gas pool heater - in those days that was a princely sum. (Mid 1980s.)

That said, we did like San Diego and Socal - until Prop 13.
