Well, something that is good for dogs is that tile that looks like wood. You could do the whole upstairs with it.

If you put down tile, take up the bamboo. Nothing worse than a patchwork lf different flooring. And be sure to calculate the deflection so as to do the needed reinforcements to the joists or subfloor so that it won't crack.
