I think it's Bottlebrush -- Callistemon citrinus. Maybe "Little John" or other dwarf variety?

Yes it's 'Little John' and it has appeared everywhere in commercial plantings here in the last few years. It is darling - such lovely blue-green foliage and showy flowers. They plant them on about 2' centers. However, it is frost-tender, so if we get a cold winter it will have lots of unsightly dieback. It also gets WAY bigger than the space allowed for it if we don't have cold winters for a while. There is one in the ground at a wholesale nursery in Santa Rosa in a protected position that is about 4' x 4' x 4'. I don't think that Las Vegas freezes which means that in short order those shrubs are going to get huge. I can't imagine what they will do to them with so many to deal with. Shear them? Ugh...
