I have cabinets that are showing wear, and I need to paint them. They're currently the dreaded golden oak.

I thought I wanted cream cabinets, but realized the color I picked is actually beige (very similar to Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations Quilter's White). My husband is worried that they'll look dirty because our wall color is basically a darker version of the potential cabinet color, or that the cabinets will blend into the wall too much, as our walls are basically a dark beige (Behr Gobi Desert). He thinks I should paint the cabinets the same color as our trim (it's Behr Swiss Coffee, basically a warm, light off-white). We both agree that a bright white would look totally out of place in our house.

I tried the color in my bathroom and love it, but my bathroom walls are green, and it's only one vanity, not a lot of beige high up on the wall like in a kitchen, so I'm not sure. FYI I used Rustoleum's Quilter's White in my bathroom, and the color is good but the paint chips easily (not an adhesion problem, tried two different topcoats which did not fix it). So, I got an extremely close color from Benjamin Moore in their cabinet paint.

This is close, but my walls are tan rather than yellow, but you get the idea of the cabinets basically blending in a bit with the wall color, and the white trim being close:

These are examples I found where the cabinets are the same color as the trim in the house. It was harder to find examples with tan walls, it seems like most people have paired cream cabinets with off white walls.

(Our wall color is not this dark, and I the kitchen island would be cream/beige or a neutral green (like Behr Curly Willow)
