This is actually referred to as a dumbwaiter but any number of items can go up and down this system and to most any height. This particular system works much like an actual elevator with safety interlocks and sensors so it stops at the correct location. There are various sizes to these systems. This one will take up to 250 pounds and is approximately a 30 inch cube. Unfortunately these systems when designed and installed correctly are not inexpensive but definitely save time going up two flights of stairs with arm loads of groceries or other bulky items.
