My birthday present...

I told my husband that he bought me a great bday present (it's later this month) to his great surprise ;-). Isn't it a great tree?? It's a Ray Ruby grapefruit from a local nursery. It's a grafted tree from Record Buck farms. It has been in the nursery for a while, so the leaves are not as dark as they could be, but I'll whip it into shape. I was giving it a hug and my son wanted the pic!

my son took the pics and we got another of me and Adam the guava! Now this is unrelated, and I posted on the tropical fruit forum (no answer), but when is the best time to prune that guava tree?? It has an almost 9' diameter. It is just too wide to have in the house. Should I prune now, or just before bringing him in??

Very nice! Quite a gift! Happy early birthday :-)

I'd prune the guava now, so that it can use some of the good weather left.

John, you devil, you. Laura, that is a very nice tree. Give hubby a very nice hug and a kiss ---------again.

Lol! Thanks guys. Josh, I will do that now then!! This is one time when I hate pruning the lovely growth, but it is massive! Thank you Cory! We don't make birthdays a big production, which is why I bought my gift ;-). Vladimir, he'll be cursing his gift soon enough when it's in the house! At least it's not thorny...

Thank you Steve! You know guys, I don't care all that much for my birthday (although getting older is better than the alternative ;-), my main point was to show everyone my tree!!! I appreciate the wishes though!

Wow! Just when I thought you were actually done getting any more citrus trees for the year Laura, bam!! :D But, that is a lovely tree you found at that nursey.. lol

Lol Brian! I did tell my husband just that...I'm not into jewelry or anything fancy...give me trees! I'll remind him of that when he's living in the jungle all winter...he may prefer jewelry then ;-)

You husband is a very lucky man. My wife too could care less about jewelry of other expensive unnecessary items

Well, how would you like a wife that could care less about jewelry or plants..That's my mom...lol The only thing she cares about more than anything are her nails..So I treat her to that every time) In her thoughts, she still buys me anything related to growing plants...She is better than my ex girl friend...My X liked gold, sliver and diamonds..In turn for that, she would get me something related to football..My other passion.lol

Happy Birthday Laura, how about a Mango Farm in the tropics for next year, he seems nice enough!

Thank you Dev, Chris, and Bob! I'll ask for the mango farm next year Bob! ;-). Chris...he funded the tree...I bought it and told him he bought me a great present and watched his puzzled expression...

Laura, don't you just love it when we just go out and buy our own gifts?! We make it so easy for the hubby!

    YES Figs! It's much easier!

Laura, forget about the mango farm. I allways wanted a mango farm but i find-out that besides animals you also have to worry about the 2 legged ones, so stay where you are.

Laura, funding is a form of enabling. ;-)

Lol...yes Chris! Bob, I have FOUR two-legged ones to worry about...perhaps in the future...;-)
