Dining room buffet

We have a rectangular dining room and a table that can seat up to 8 people. I would love to get a buffet or accent console to add a little bit of decorative storage and accent to the room. We don't have a lot of room behind the chairs to the back wall (maybe 2 feet or so). Would it be too cramped to get a skinny table for that area or better off for a corner cabinet?

Does it look unfinished because I don't have another piece in there? I'd like to add a plant/ dog tree to give it some texture in one of the corners.

I think it looks fine, but I would remove the 2 extra dining chairs and put in storage until needed. Not every nook and cranny needs filling or you start to lose the beauty.:)

Pretty room. You probably can fit a console under the mirror...this one is under 9 inches deep. I think it would look pretty if you put the art where the mirror is and added a console ( the color of your table) and 2 lamps :)

It looks like you have room to be able to pull the table away from the wall with the mirror. All you need is another foot or 1.5 feet more. Then utilize the other lady idea of a slim buffet table. I think to get a THIN table you will need to use a hall table. Put a low floral arrangement (fresh and simple colors..white and green), 4 wine glasses or a decanter and 2 glasses then perhaps a lamp if needed.
take those wood extensions òff the floor. and keep them in storage

I would not add another piece IMO it will not just look crowded it will be crowded 2’ is barely enough room for chairs to slide in and out

I would not add any type of console. You will regret it because it will be too crowded.

Pretty room. I would probably remove the two extra chairs to somewhere else in the home and place a tall plant in the corner between the mirror and painting.

Some excellent ideas here. I would definitely store the two extra dining chairs elsewhere, and console table or no, I would switch the mirror and the art - the mirror on the other wall will reflect natural light from the window. If you do not end up with a console on the long wall, I think your idea of a tree (real, not fake!) in the corner would be lovely.

    Hi,

Love your chairs, may use yours as inspiration for mine.

I had the same problem in my dining room. I went with a bar cart, one of the bigger ones. When I have a full table, it goes into my kitchen under the wall hung TV.

Usually it hold decorative things, vase of flowers, decanter etc.,
But with big dinners, I use it to set out dishes for desert and coffee etc. ( we have a better bar area, and I don't want my cart all scratched.)

    Just an Idea.

Joanne smith could you send a picture of the cart in your dining room?

Just had Canadian Thanksgiving, so the table is extended and the room quite crowded right now. My room is smaller than yours. My mirror came before the cart idea, so is not positioned as well as it could be. I know it could use more art on this wall, but hey, this isn't about me.

Crowded from Canadian Thanksgiving, normally not extended with a cloth.

I have the same issue and am fighting with my husband to put in a corner cabinet. I think a corner cab would fit better. Bar cart is a good idea too, you can move as needed.

I'm also planning on painting my dining room same colors as yours. What color is your blue? I also like your chairs. Can you tell me where they are from? Thanks

A very nice dining space with great contrast! Adding a console along the long wall will likely feel too cramped. Consider a narrow upright dresser in the corner where the additional dining chair currently sits. In natural wood or well-painted, it can provide storage for linens, candles, even dishware.
