Brian read this....About your trees and your success

I just wanted to take the time to tell you that I am so proud to know you and appreciate all the time although you being as busy as you are to help others understand what you do to be successful with your trees..You being as humble as you are will always tell us we are just as good and maybe we are. But it still drives me to come here and tell you how wonderful you are your trees are.

It is possible that many of us will never be able to mimic exactly what you do to the tee, or even come close, or get our trees to look a huge as yours, but the time that you take to help many understand their option to grow like you is an act of love on your part. We all know that there are options in what we do, but to get a wonderful grower like you to spend the time here along with those of us that share our success another way and just awesome in my eyes and we are lucky

You have a wonderful way about yourself here and towards me and everyone else,, and if I could tell you in person, I would You are humble about it and afraid that giving advice might cause others to fail when effect they ask and if they fail, there is something they might of missed, that is why we keep asking you for as much detail as possible.. ..Just know that we appreciate the the specifics you give us despite your crazy schedule.

if anyone here can grow well in a mix other than the ones we use, it's you and thank you for sharing what you can))) Hugs buddy

Brian, you deserve the praise here! I guess you all most of the thanks to the SUN too right? lol I just stuck one of my trees that never sees more than 4 hours of direct sunlight in yard on my roof and bot is it taking off...lol Then I stuck my Dekopan that was looking like crap into my greenhouse and boy did it change over night! I'm thinking about tossing all my orchids out except a couple and sticking my most valued citrus trees in there...Then next year, I am going to invest into a bigger greenhouse, that's it!

You are a good human being and friend and thanks again..

Two question for you>>>>?? If you don't mind.

Do you ever get fungus gnats using a mix like that? And, can you take a pic of the mix you use? I think I found the pro mix you use, but I want to make sure it's the same..Take a pic of the ingredients close up too, please....Hugs bud

Mikey my friend you still have tree's on your roof Man O Man your the best . It's amazing how these tree's given the sunlight will just take off not forgetting the extra loving your giving them . Mikey so glad to hear your going to get a larger GH next yr and don't throw out your beautiful orchids please . It's to bad we didn't live close I would have given you the GH we put up last yr , we are selling it with the house but the future homeowners probably will not want it . It definitely sounds like you need the extra space you have an amazing collection and as you know all of these plants will soon out grow there space . Mikey we just love sitting in our new GH the air is so nice and humid we almost screwed it up yesterday we stopped at a garden center big mistake and they had two huge bottled neck palms I believe that's the name you should have seen them long story short we almost bought one but after realizing that one palm would have taken up half the GH we decided bad idea , it was 75% off unbelievable deal . Mikey I will take a pic tomorrow for you I believe Figs posted a pic already on the thread you and I were on earlier today . I have never had fungus knats I did have small flies come off some green pepper plants that you told me not to bring in , I should have listened , can you believe it that green pepper plant is still alive it's 2 yrs old now and looks amazing along with a jalapeño pepper . Have a great night my friend hugs .

Hey Brian buddy!! I see you are posting to this thread in my e-mail notifications and yet I see nothing here about the fig you started or the pic of the soil mix(((

Yes, I do have a couple still on the roof and we did not get a killing frost yet!! Yahoo...Even my impatiens are still looking great. NO frost! I just bought another few days of leaving everything outside..All my trees are still outside..You should of seen the Citrus Tress at this HUGE nursery yesterday...I am so jealous and actually quite depressed...They were in ALL DAY sunshine under a huge roof all glass and every branch had a huge cluster of flowers and fruit! They were in the mix you use too..I asked about that and they said it was well drawing but it also helps to give them all day sun in a greenhouse..I am so depressed that I can't give them that much space or sun. I will never see those kinds of blooms on mine unless I move buddy.,...Or unless my neighbor takes that stupid tree down...

Brian, lol, you don't need anything taking up more room in that greenhouse, unless of course you pack on a ton of weight, then leave that extra space for you..lol I hear you about warm and humid..I LOVE it..I wonder if you are going to get the heat wave we are starting today? 70's and 80's for a few days..Now I can shut of my space heater and give my electric bill a break..

Thanks for your kind words buddy..You are a special human being here and my good friend..I wish I could meet you and others here in person. If I had money I would...

How's Sugar adjusting to your new place? Did you plant grass? Can you take pics of the little Fig you are starting and the Mix you use?

My Mom took a hard fall last week again and she looks like she will not need a mask for Halloween right now....I have been caring for her and my Dad at the nursing home.......If I could take pics of the trees on the roof I would but I left my card reader there..By the way, I just picked up the most colorful Cactus I have ever seen...Brian, what's a Cocktail Citrus Tree? Is that two trees planted in one pot>? They were selling those yesterday at the Nursery. I almost bought one..

Thanks so much buddy,,Hugs to you too

Hello Mikey OMG your poor mom I hope she is alright sounds like she had quit the tumble, they always seem to land face first not like my tumbles it's a general all over bruising like earlier this week lol . It must be very rough on you the back and forth between the nursing home and home you must be exhausted . I hope your Dad is doing OK to !!!! Its so hard watching our parents go through this I know. I really want to see a pic of your new cactus maybe next post . Proud of you buddy you walked out of the nursery with only a cactus me my trunk would have been full that's why I try staying away from those places and yes I do have to watch the weight I am putting on lol . The fruit cocktail tree is a tree with multiple varieties grafted to it I to always wanted one of those. One of the construction guy's is really really good at grafting he is going to make me a cocktail tree . Mikey I don't know what I did yesterday with the posts they did disappear I guess I must have done something wrong as usual. Here is a pic of the potting mix and a couple of others I through in from yesterday.

as you can see I am still having problems two of the same pics.
Page's we picked yesterday and they were delicious. Yes by the way Mikey it's going to be in the 70's this upcoming week but with your favorite lot's of Thunderstorms actually we are about to get one now you would love it lol.

Gigantic hugs to you and your family! !!

I forgot to mention just a side note about the weather a very respected weather man up here is predicting a brutally cold winter in the northeast it looks like the same setup as we had a few yrs ago when we had all of the record breaking cold , so anyone living in the northeast better make sure you have sufficient heating in your greenhouse . Remember that Polar Vortex thing , we are going to be hearing that all winter by the sounds of things , lovely .

Brian- ur plants truly are inspiring. and those greenhouse pics are awesome , is that a sofa there its a private oasis reminded me of orangeries in Europe.

My plants r still out . I did do 2 back n forth trips when there were 2 nights of frost. overall it's still mild - today is 21c/ 15c. will bring in the plants next weekend.

Hey Dev your weather is soooooo different than ours we had two nights of minus 4 C and we are only a couple of hundred miles from each other. Amazed you still have your tree's out , yes I would say by this weekend it will be time to bring them in . Dev you did great 6 months having your tree's outdoors . It's a rocking sofa we've had for years very comfy, very easy to fall asleep on . Dev the greenhouse is becoming one big bee hive those automatic vents , we shut that down yesterday and were able to chase the bee's out although I am sure I missed a couple. I wish you luck bringing in yours next weekend , sad time of yr right ?

Hey Brian..Oh my God..You sure you are not taking these pics at some Orange Vineyard down in Florida???lol Amazing my friend! Please send that sun my way. I figure if I ask enough people to pray for that tree in my neighbors yards to come down, it just might..I actually had a dream that I pounded nails through it and it died within days..I would never do that...But, I still have the roof top buddy for the next few days..I think you are right, that darn Polar Vortex is coming back and with a vengeance since it was gone all last winter..I am worried about that. I pray you are wrong. It looks like after the next few days in the 80's, we are going to sink below normal for days to come..I am so tired of it buddy.

Brian, I have never seen so many huge fruits on a tree grown in a pot in Canada! My goodness..By the way, those hands look that of hands of a person in his 20's...ha

Brian, what are the temps in there at night right now? Are you dropping below the 55 degree mark? Can you keep me posted on night temps as time goes by..I'd be curious to see how well the heat system in there is keeping up with cold outside temps..I wish I could sit in there and have a conversation with you. It looks so inviting! You should get one of those portable little t.v's and a portable fireplace heater and really set the mood..Listen, if you ever want to have a Message Therapist work on you while in there just let me know.lol

Mom is better..Her face is not so black and with the prayers of everyone she is grateful...Thanks buddy.

Brian..Oh my God..Seems to be you do everything right, even Sugar has the whitest fir and the cleanest eyes! What the heck do you feed him, Miracle Grow..?lol Seriously, that coat of fir looks so soft and cuddly and clean! A diamond in the rough buddy..I never saw a dog of that sport look so clean..They usually have a problem with black fir around the eyes if they don't get the right nutrition..You are doing a mighty job buddy! Well I did say everything right, but you fail when it comes to eating sloppy Joe bud..ha

Listen, I would kill for a three hour thunderstorm. I can't even get a ten minute one. It's been three years..The deforestation is really doing damage and they are just now admitting it. We are turning into another desert..It's scary. You say you need work between the shoulders..I am all your pal and I won't even charge you..I'll just trade you for one of your trees..lool

It was 55 all day here because the front never moved northward until about 3..Then it popped up twenty degrees in a half hour..lol Now it's warm here..60's tonight)))) I love it. You should see how all my trees are loving it and my plants in the yard..Every tree is still outside Brian..I thin after after this weekend that's it...50's and 30's by night for days on end it seems..Arg!

Brian, thank you for asking about Mom..She's had a tough day and she can't believe how many here care about her..What a great bunch of beautiful human beings here, including Sugar of course....We need that...

I hope you are wrong about this winter..I don't want to spend so many days worried about the heaters going out due to a circuit breaker or storm..It's the most stressful thing for me keeping things in my greenhouse. Every single day it drops well below freezing, I have to keep a thermometer close to my bed for when I wake up or keep calling my home to see what the temps is..My Mother is my watch dog.

Sugar must love sitting in there with you buddy> Give him and yourself a hug for me will you?

By the way, soil mix question??

Do you have to amend your mix at all? And do you ever over pot or pot just one size up from the root ball?

    Thanks bud

Mikey my friend Sugar thanks you for all those nice complement's. Mikey we never feed him dog food he eats what ever we eat for supper except sloppy Joe's lol . He gets over an hour walk every day , more for me of course I sure need the exercise . Mikey it's still in the 70's here and it's 8.00 pm but the wind is just howling . I am amazed you have your tree's still outside that's at least 6 months almost 7 right . Mine are in the GH by the middle of September that's about the best I can do . Mikey buddy I do not amend the soil at all . I usually put them into a much larger pot then they should be potted in . I have one tree giving me a bit of grief right now my Kishu I don't think it likes the larger pot I really have to watch how I water this one . I Hope your mom feels better tomorrow , my mom's favorite saying is (better days a head) she tells me this every night . I Sure hope you get some thunder action buddy it's always the way the one that wants and the one that gets it never works out lol . Hugs buddy

By the way I am still laughing at (what are you feeding Sugar Miracle-Gro) your a very funny guy !!!!

Brian, a quick question for you buddy then I have to got to bed. I will be back to address what you said later)))

Do you have to spray Epsom Salts and magnesium /sulfur and Iron all over the leaves of your trees? Do you have to use all kinds of this or that fertilizers and concoctions to keep your trees healthy and green?

If not, then you know exactly how to keep the roots of your trees happy and everyone should take head. I'm tired of certain individuals making diagnosis on others trees just by looking at the leaves when they have no got a clue on what the grower does to their trees or what causes the issues in the first place..All they want to do is encourage others to bandaid the problem instead of getting to the root of the problem..It's sad to be quite honest and what is worst is that unsuspecting newbies play right into the hands of that..I'm getting tired of being of this forum Brian..That is what the local nurseries do around here, useless, and now it happens here...

Hugs buddy..Nite and know that you are much loved

Mikey buddy I hear your frustration . Mikey I always considered you the best around these parts and if people don't want to take your advice then you might want to stop giving it but I know you have a huge heart and will keep giving . Mikey I do absolutely nothing other than water and fertilize with MG in the summer and of course give them a good winter home in the GH . I use no pesticides no oils of any sort no nothing , I take care of bugs by hand leaf by leaf . Mikey I would never sleep if I worried about every yellow leaf , sometimes you have to step back and let them do their own thing . Mikey a healthy tree is a happy tree it will have very few to no issues once a tree becomes infested with bugs and shows general usually rapid decline then it's time to act . Mikey you might have noticed white powder on my citrus leaves this is concrete dust from construction that was near my GH all the dust blew straight in there and it's so hard to wash off lol . Mikey keep up the good work around here , hey it's up to them if they want to listen I know who I will always take the advice from !!! You buddy .

    Take care my friend

Brian, first off, Mom is having a good day and thank you for thinking of her..))

Brian, you are one of a kind let me tell you. I wish when God made the mold, it was not broken along the way. For some reason, I can see you living in the Dark Ages when men killed each other over the stupidest things..lol And it seems to me that people food does just fine for Sugar that lucky canine..lol I would love to see what happens if you feed him Sloppy Joe..lololol

Do you know how good it smells outside...........I can smell the fall air coming in through the windows with the woods and dead leaves behind me. The crickets were still chirping last night, the latest I have ever heard them around here. Nothing in my yard has been hit with frost yet and even the most sensitive plants, impatiens are still growing like weeds..

Looks to me you don't have to topically do anything with your trees since you have the gift of keeping the roots to your trees very happy buddy. You have a green thumb and never take that for granted..You are so helpful in so many ways! You are a gem of a friend and I appreciate your kind words as always buddy..

Give Sugar a hug for me....And yourself of course!
