OH...that is such a fun, quirky idea, I love it. I think you will have to experiment with the spacing to get the effect you like. Please post in the Before and After when you get finished, I'll be watching for it. Give that hunky guy a big hug for working so hard.

This may depend on what area of the country you're in, San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest tend to be tolerant of more colorful paint schemes, but if everyone is used to the previous rainbow, looks like you could go any way you want. Try googling Victorian fishscale (or fish scale) gable for lots of images.

Or you could paint all the fish scales sagey and pick out the diamond shapes with the limon (or visa versa for a stronger look) more similar to the color block look. Good luck, looks like a fun house project.

P.s. I'd love to see a contrasting color like purple, burgundy or gold thrown in for the trim! Some of my favorite green Victorians
