I think the Other forum is fine for friends to chat. I agree about the squabbles.

Well, both my doctor and my husbands are complaining the cost of prescriptions are way out of hand. Both in different ways complain the insurance companies are not allowing them to prescribe or test unless they approve, one gave us a paper stating it is a health insurance mafia and the other one said if Hillary tries to go to single payer the ins industry will do away with her. Strong language from doctors. I don't know what to think...

Honestly I cannot say that I have seen any difference in our health insurance coverage since Obamacare - yest prices are going up but they were going up before. Yes the insurer gets in the way of needed tests etc but that happened before (usually if you have a willing doctor, a call or two from the dr will get things through). Yes prescription costs are increasing but they were before. Obamacare is a good scapegoat, but most of these are long term trends.

I agree the costs were rising before ACA too. The thing I am seeing now it is hitting the doctors and not just us as consumers. They are being asked to be more accountable for costs. I don't neccessarily see that as bad except it seems to be directed at the doctors rather than the CEOS who still want their big paychecks. Just like corps that cut the laborers first so they can keep their big bonuses. That is how I am seeing it..my doc said next year they want him to see more patients in same timeframe...

I buy my insurance from an exchange. I just got the notice that informed me my current plan is still available and is to cost me $45 LESS a month! I read it twice!

My doc said he pays 2000 a mo for he and his wife. I think single payer may the only way to regulate the costs if this is the case.

I am posting this story about late term abortion in case anyone thinks it is an easy decision. BTW it is unlawful except in extreme cases of mothers health.

Unfortunately your thread on Garden Web has been flagged after some were lead over by a certain Houzz friend, and her supporters followed. Now she has removed her comment to lead over to your thread.
Just ignore and move on, IMHO.
I heard a great interview today on our local radio talk show with Steve Forbes, who once ran for president.
A Trump supporter, he really lay out the Republican economic package. He said Donald is his own worst enemy, and if he could not veer off topic and stick to the issues he has a chance. I think it is going to be a close race in the end.
I was at a luncheon yesterday with many of my friends. Many Republicans are not voting for Trump, they are the ones he's lost. He's attracted such right wing zealots, it's hard for many Republicans to support the rhetoric. They are conservative but can't support his racist rhetoric.
I love your article on abortion Kathy. Talk about opening a can of worms, lol.
Who, in their right mind thinks a woman intentionally has an abortion in their 9th month, unless it is life threatening.
As a neonatal ICU nurse for 35 years, I have seen my share of nightmare scenarios.

It sad when women have to make that choice.

On the other hand, I have seen mothers die during chidbirth, either for refusing a Csection or blood transfusion mainly for religious reasons. We would get a court order to care for the baby, but sometimes because of the mother's strong religious beliefs she would not survive, heartbreaking.

And tragic. I don't know the reasons for late term but in the rare instance that it's been done, it's due to a cataclysmic health event.

If you want to chat with more people, rather than talking to yourself, the Kitchen Table Forum is designed for that exact purpose.

Thanks Sophie...it's rather quiet here and that's okay...but I will check it out...

I checked out kitchen table forum and it just struck me ... Houzz is all about the "hits". How many comments and likes are made. And, I'm beginning to think most have nothing to do with design. :(

I thought Houzz was DD and Other. But, there's more Other than DD.

No D as I don't think there is more, its just a main server can give you any info about your site, hits, likes, how many people went on your site, and others. Flags and who flagged!

I hadn't heard that one before, Kathy. Very American. I will look for an Aussie one on the same theme.

Do Aussies not buy American music?

Definitely do. This is Guy Sebastian, an Aussie with a great voice. My daughter always puts this up on the juke box for me when we go to the pub for dinner. The song was big outside Aus.

Just that I can look on ITunes and get music from around the world. The internet makes you seem like you are next door.

Great article with actual solutions to some of the loss of privacy we have incurred. Posting pictures of the layout of your home, phone numbers, addresses, funerals, going out of town etc all are ammunition for thieves, not to mention online fraud...ugh...it is very scary and we need to be more aware. We are not just talking privately here..we are advertising to the world. I can talk to you in Australia. On twitter I listened to a man hearing the planes fly over his house to kill Bin Laden. Since then Twitter doesn't do automatic translation since he was talking in Arabic.

    Forwarned is forearmed.

The younger generation don't seem concerned at the loss of privacy.

The younger generation is just that YOUNG....wisdom comes slowly and with experience. Many young people will learn the lessons the hard way. School of hard knocks. It worked for me.

That's the thing, though, there's a meme that points out something like: "I'm so glad I got to make my mistakes in the --00 S without them being up on the Internet for ever more". Maybe the 1980s, but you get the idea.

I think I once rode home from a party Under the car seat cover! I wasn't drunk. But there's no photo on the net permanently, for potential employers to see.

I think it was better for us, privacy wise. Better in employment, too for your generation, not mine. I'm gen x, we qualified and went straight into a bad recession around '90-92. Most of my professional friends struggled to get jobs. It's not been easy for gen x since, that's why they say we are the more serious generation.

Well, I've gone through a few depressions. The worst when Reagan was President and my husband was out of work for 2 years. He couldn't get a job because he was told he was overqualified because he was a union Journeyman although there were no jobs in his field.

Good harmonies, but not a Christmassy tempo. Better for a funeral at that speed. Would like to explore some of their other work when I get my new download allocation.
