It is a beautiful bedroom set! Over where I live , many people love traditional furniture like this but still use modern stuff to go with it. Usually people use three modern vases and put that either on the make up table ( one side) or besides it on a dresser. It will be accessories such as modern light lamps, wall clocks, bedding, curtains that will help lessen the traditional look of the furniture. Actually this is not so bad in that it can be flexible- looking modern or traditional. I love it!

One family member, added a red and cream silk light reflecting carpet, and a red night lamp to the bedside lamps to add a modern look.. Some use curtain tassles and tie them around the post of the beds. Some add four strips of colour for curtains.

I think you'll have to go with the golden tones in the wood. It is very "matchy-matchy" so be sure and add something that is not part of the set - a chaise, club chairs and side table - just a way to break the monotony.

This is such a beautiful bedroom set! I looked in Houzz PHOTOS in Bedrooms and entered "wood bed" in the search box. There were about 200 photos.

The one thing I noticed that seemed to make a room "modern" was a plain white duvet cover, only two white pillows on the bed, a polished wood floor or plain carpet and white walls and sheer white draperies.

A relative who had a lot of beautiful, ornate wood antiques made them stand out by painting the walls and ceiling white, and having white
carpeting. One of the tables had a white marble top, with a white
hobnail lamp on it. That combination drew the eye upward.

For your space, white everywhere might be too stark with the honey yellow color of the wood. Perhaps an ivory color in a matte or eggshell finish for walls, and 1 part paint color to 3 parts white for the ceiling. Light ivory
floor covering and draperies. Plain cream color puffy duvet on the bed,
with only two pillows (regular bed pillows, or the square 24x24
kind).
