After an unfortunate back deck fire, the homeowners rebuilt two thirds of the house and made use of the opportunity to have the Dutch gambrel farmhouse redesigned into a Colonial Revival style. The renovation involved replacing the entire main body of the house, revising the roof proportions and window layout, as well as adding a front entry portico. The intention was to preserve the footprint of the house as much as possible and reshape the home to be more historically appropriate and well proportioned and therefore more reflective of the other historical homes in the neighborhood.
