Hi Stephanie, the wiring was run in the wall behind the drywall to electrical boxes. A simple so called keyless light fixture is installed on the electrical box and a low wattage light bulb screws into the fixture. The box is "hollow" and open in the back making room for the bulb and the box is held a small distance from the wall allowing the light to show from behind.
