kiwifruit08 Makes a very good point. Induction cookware is very heavy. Lodge brand cast iron (skillets) is modestly priced and available pre-seasoned. To replace most of your cookware you will need to buy All Clad brand...it's very expensive. Products from both brands will last virtually forever.

We just installed an induction cooktop last year (Fridgidare) and we were able to use our 17 year old Lagostina cookware set - as long as it is magnetic it works fine. I'm sure that a higher end set would work better but we have been fine with what we have. And yes, we love the cooktop!

I have a Bosch. Works with my IKEA pots, Le Cruset, Lodge and my All Clad 5. Pots required are not necessarily heavy just ones that a magnet will stick to. Love my induction. Switched from gas. Keeps the kitchen cool. Very responsive!

beseaside Thank you for the IKEA referral. Induction is so popular in Europe I understand why they would carry cookware for it. No IKEA anywhere near me so I wasn't aware.

Have been cooking with a Bosch induction cooktop for four years. Love it! Water boils very quickly. Great source for magnetic pots is Marshalls/Homegoods. About half of our pots worked so we didn't have to replace many. Induction compatible pots are not heavier.

I have a Thermador induction cooktop. Love it. Doesn't heat up the kitchen. I needed a few new pans. But who doesn't love new cookware!

I have Whirpool…love the way induction works. Beats gas, IMO. My pots and pans are Pampered Chef and yes, they are heavy.

We have a GE Profile induction cooktop and love it. Not sure what the deal is over the expensive pots. Yes, they have to be induction compatible, but it absolutely does not mean you have to go out and buy the expensive high-end ones or that they are all way heavier. Bed Bath & Beyond, Costco, Sam's Club, heck even Kohl's carries induction-compatible pots. What's your budget? There's probably a better answer for the best cooktop models within each price range.

I just got a set of stainless steel pots at Aldi for 50 bucks and they work great on my Bosch induction cooktop.

You can get lots of cookware now that is good for induction but as for brands I really have no idea i am old school i still love cooking on gas commercial range but I do have an induction burner I use for sauces

I love inductions but my Maytag has been a lemon. First problem is the oven would not stop heating up until it tripped the sensor... Wow scary problem. Nothing is worse than that burning electric smell. Took four months to fix as Maytag sent wrong part and it took forever with many phone calls. Second problem now... It beeps randomly for no reason and won't stop until it is unplugged and replugged but sometimes it is really naughty and needs to be unplugged overnight. Even at times when it hasn't been used for days. The beep is very loud and annoying every 3 seconds... It also will beep at you if you do something that annoys it. You can leave a pot on the glass if you just used a "burner" recently but if you have been ignoring the oven for a few days you aren't allowed to put anything on the glass. It wont stop beeping until you remove the item and if it's your lucky day stop beeping.
