Drawer pull size

I'm having two banks of drawers installed, each 30 wide. I guess the rule is... 1 pull up to 30" and 2 pulls for 30" or more. Thing is, (one 4") pull looks like it's not enough. I'm trying to decide between two 4" pulls per drawer and one 6" pull per drawer. Anyone else come across this dilemma or have any suggestions? Thanks!

I agree with Anna Duke, re: future balance issues. Two pulls could also look a bit much depending on your design. I'd only do two if they are PART of the design.

If you are talking about your kitchen, which I assume you are, I'll also assume you are buying good enough quality cabinetry that you only need one pull. And that you won't overload the drawers. One six to nine inch pull will be enough.

By the way, there is no rule.

If they are easy open drawers, one 6" should do it. If you want to make more of a statement with the hardware you can go larger; probably up to 12".

I have similar size drawers and used one 9-10 inch pull. It's proportional and updated. Kind of depends on your style. Two pulls or knobs on one drawer and it's a sure bet most people will only use one which can create an imbalance.

Yes, they are easy open/close drawers. Hadn't thought of that, thanks. I'm definitely going for the larger one pull design... Thanks ladies!!

We recently remodeled our kitchen. It has a lot of large, lower drawers. The rule of thumb for us was: handle should be 1/3 apx of width of the drawer or door. We ended with only two sizes of handles. However, I saw several examples of handles used as a design element in and of themselves--in these cases they were often repeated in a kind of rhythm or pattern around the kitchen.
