What a lovely view, Gill! And so GREEN! Must be all that rain that California so desperately misses and needs. I think our draught is entering its 6th year. Plenty of warmth & sunshine though. I guess the grass is always greener, so to speak.

Gill, I especially like the middle one in the first pic. Compact growth and well in shape. The caudexes are nice too on all of them. Have you treated them in a special way?

Hello Francesco. No special treatment other than life has been a struggle for them in their formative years as they've even been to hell and back! Plus the UK climate hasn't been kind to them and I battled to keep them going a while ago after a particularly bad spell in their development. As you know, we're neither of us known for our tropical temps are we....so, why do we try to grow such plants then?

I used to feed them with just general purpose ferts, but have with help from here been able to find a better source of nutrients and they are thriving. This year, two of those big three have had buds and Opened their blooms properly for the first time in their 8 yrs of life from seed. All my plants are seed grown as they're not offered for sale here. That particular plant has had tons of branches from the outset, it's a crazy thing, they're so tightly packed it's like a ball! Flowers are a bonus for me, I can enjoy them without, and they are often talked about when visitors get to see them in my home!

Bragg, noooooooo! They're my two Compton Carousels, from Phil, he was sending me a tiny one but as a surprise he sent me a huge one that's now made even more :-) Yes have plenty of room for them to spread out. There's three windows are south facing and in the warmest rooms as the south bedrooms above aren't kept that warm in winter. Yes, ideal plant sills aren't they!

Tyler, yes, it's always green here, with slight variations within our four seasons. Too green at times as I get fed up of mowing all the lawns, cutting the hedge and raking up tons of fallen leaves, but it's the price You pay for having a garden on the large size, for the UK anyway.

Well, you have done everything right then because they look awesome. I always liked exotic plants and as you can not buy Adeniums here in Switzerland too I wanted them. To me they even look interesting as seedlings. Unfortunately I bought some more Seeds from Mr. Ko as a lot of people here told good stuff about his plants and seeds. The germination rate was much higher and faster than my first sown seeds from amazon and it is amazing how they develop (compact growth and some are cute fattys). But im not so sure how they will do during winter and i might planted to much. Time will tell. :-)

Mr Ko seed is reknowned for its good germination rates on here. The seedlings should be ok during the winter of you keep them in the house in the sunniest place you can. Don't overwater them, but just enough to keep them ticking over, cold and wet aren't any good for them as no doubt you've read on here. They shouldn't drop their leaves, that only happens for older plants in general. I gently squeeze the caudex to see if there's any give in it, then water sparingly to plump it up again. As long as they're warm and in a good draining mix, and you are careful with how much water they get, all should be fine. Good luck!

Ha! Rick, that's a nice little layout. My sunniest windows in New York were all fit with shelves for year-round growing, similar to the way Gill has them but in multi tiers. I love the look of plants inside the home.

I do love plants in the home also, Maria Elena. I would love my Adeniums even more if I could house them outside all year, then I could have more :)

My collection has outgrown my available indoor space. This year, I have a different plan. I have my light, and now I need to order a 6 foot light mover.

I plan to mount it to the ceiling in the garage, and create an area of about 60 Sq ft (6x10) enclosed by hanging contractor plastic sheeting from the ceiling. I need it enclosed so I can slightly increase the temperature.
