Wow. That's a lot. Now I understand why it so hard to overwinter all of them. And they are all big and beautiful! I hope they all will make it through the winter Mary! Mine are all indoors, skinny bald and kinda ugly, lol.

Hello Marie, yes, I knew you had a lot of adult plants, but, there are SO many wonderful plants here, your collection is amazing.

So every one is housed indoors over the next five months? I had always thought of Texas as being a place where there would be quite happy to be kept outside all year round, obviously I'm wrong! What is a typical winter like for you?

I've heard you mention that over winter you have sadly lost several of your plants, last winter I believe was one of those instances when many didn't make it through....are they lost because of the cold temps?

Oh My. I thought I had a lot. Mary, I sure hope you have help w putting them away. You will definitely be in need of your holiday once they are tucked away.

Do you have to have them taken care of for that long or can they just be left.

Don't tell me that you are unpotting these still and repotting in the Spring?

Tyler, I forget how to count. It is over 100, but 1/3 of them were from big box store and with my grafting, they now had double and triple. The ones in these pictures are all double and triple. (small amount are single, but they come with names from Rinoa)

You guys didn't see the ones on the side of the house where I raise them for next year's grafting project. (about 40 more)

Gill, I wish I don't have to bring them inside. Winter in Texas is bad sometime. I lost so many each year during winter months. Few days under 30 degrees, cold and rainy could kill all of DR if you don't bring them inside.

Rick, I will uproot most of my small ones this year. (hope for the best). I will be to Paris and Rome for 2 weeks after this week.

Yes I quite understand about cold and wet, sadly! I just had no idea that Texas temps dipped down in that region, just goes to show how wrong I was.

I hope they all pull through.....and do take care in moving them.

I'm nursing a very sore lower back today, presumably from the past few days work catching up on the big autumnal clearout, cutting shrubs back, moving plants and the enevitable weeding. I've just realised after getting out of my Xtrail that my back has really 'gone', something that I haven't suffered from for some time now. Guess we are getting older eh?

My daughter used to live in Houston and a few years back (maybe 5 or so) she sent me pictures of snow on the ground.

Sorry about your back, Gill. I have arthritis in my lower back so I feel for you. I know you need to rest but too much resting can have the same effect as too much activity. That's the case with me anyway. Feel better.

Tyler, yes we do have snow, I saw snow in Houston probably 3 times in the last 25 years.

Have a marvelous time in Paris & Rome. We where in Rome & Venezia 2 years ago. Never walked as much as when there, but what we saw was amazing and never really appreciated it from reading and in studies until experiencing it.

I'm 45 miles south of Houston, on an island. The Gulf water temps don't usually fall below around 45 or so in winter.

Because of the water temps, Houston will be freezing, but the water will usually keep us above freezing. In summer, it works the other way around, and keeps us cool. I love the ocean.

I am originally from that area, but moved to Galveston in 2012. I was 8a most of the time there. It is much different here.
