Tea!

Today I brought over homemade peanut butter/oatmeal cookies to a friend who had a medical procedure and was home resting up.

She gave me an English Breakfast tea. You pull the string and then steep in the water. I didn't notice the brand , but I have never seen a tea bag that you pulled so that it gathers itself into a pouch!

Care to share where you had your "tea" today?

You can never forget or be late for tea. Once the thread starts, it goes until the following Tuesday.

At least that is my rule, and I am sticking to it! :)

Eld your peanut butter oatmeal cookies sound delicious.

ImHappy you are so much like me. I totally forget things so fast lately. I think I live in the moment and do not even try to remember further than that.

Well I went to town on the spur of the moment with my friend. She called s she was about 8 miles away and I said I would be ready when she got here. I was just barely awake on mt first cup of coffee at the time. So I showered and got almost dressed before she arrived. Grabbed a cheese stick and another cup of coffee and was out the door.

Day was good. I needed paint for the table and to pick up my prescription way down in town . I also got the last load of stepping stones for my path and across in front of the dog yard gate. I had to unload them right in front of the house when I got home and they are still sitting there.

I also brought down grandmothers chairs for the new table and a cushion for the couch I will put back up i the loft because I have a better idea and three cushions on the couch looked weird.

And finally I marked another large couch cushion to fit in gap between front of back seat in car and backs of front seats so the dog will not fall down in that space when I take him with me to town or traveling. It is marked ready to cut. I did not cut it last night. I suddenly got tired. Hopefully adding this cushion will make the back seat all nice and flat. Cover all of it with a nice blanket or bead spread and call it good. The car has a large trunk for stuff from shopping.

I enjoyed two pots of tea when I got home drinking them on the run. Back to drinking hot tea. The weather is chilly enough to let the iced tea go until next summer. Well I did have an iced tea at lunch out. nothing like tea and tacos.

So off to get changed into paint clothes and get going on the table. It is going to be a pain to do guarding it from kitty paws while paint dries.

It's raining and I'm on the way to the dentist. How depressing is that? And it's cold!

I was supposed to go up to the farm and meet my friends to go for Mexican food, but on the way one of them called to say that a horse was down out in the field and they needed to tend to him. I suspect colic. This young horse was very recently wormed and then one of my friends was trying to "fatten" him up and feeding him beet pulp. Maybe was too much too soon?

Anyway, with those hopes dashed, I decided to console myself and had a wonderful ham and cheese omelette with greens on the side and some bacon and an iced tea. I feel better now. :)

It's a bit chilly here but the pups and I have taken 4 walks already! I want to rake the leaves but it's a bit more windy than I would like so maybe I will see how the day progresses. I have a roast in the crockpot with some carrots. Trying to make good choices.

If they soaked the beet pulp overnight it should have been OK. But maybe that's what they thought, too. I've had better luck adding corn oil to the overly processed feed. When I got Cody it was the end of Sept. 2014 and I was so afraid he would not live long enough to get some meat on his bones before winter set in. He turned his nose up at beet pulp but was willing to eat corn oil. Maybe they shouldn't have turned him out on grass right away.

Soaking the beet pulp? I'll have to ask if they do that. Junior is an almost 4 year old thoroughbred who decided racing was not for him. So he has been at the farm for about 3 months, first in the babies field. They get fed twice a day in addition to being on pasture 24/7. Then he was moved to the geldings field. They are just strictly pasture 24/7. He looks thin to me, but then I am used to quarter horses and he is young. They said he was doing better after getting an injection and then walking him around for awhile. I will check up on him sometime today through one of my friends up there. All these horses are out 24/7 so they have access to pasture grass and then hay anytime they want it. The chubby ones get grazing muzzles to keep them from overdoing the grass. They are getting their fuzzy coats in anticipation of the coming winter.

Hope he is doing ok. Neighbors horse had a bit of colic the other night. I went over to help with walking her as she was going down and trying to roll. By the time I saw the post of FB an hour had passed and she was doing fine. Good old Banimine shot to the rescue.

Oh yeah, Banimine! I bet that was what Bobby gave Junior. I remember hearing them talking about that before. I feel better now. I asked my friend but she didn't go to the barn today so she didn't know. He's probably ok now. I'm glad your neighbor's horse is too. It was nice of you to help. Those horses can really worry you, can't they??

I'm used to quarter horses, too, so a thoroughbred looks thin to me. Fall colic isn't as common here as spring colic. My horses are furring up. Seems like they just got done shedding out!

Also, make sure if they have a trough with a heater...that it's not sparking them. Sometimes, the protected cord gets a little short and it's a slight shock, but enough to discourage them from drinking. If you see them bobbing their heads up and down in the water, rather than drinking deeply, replace the heater.

Had some Earl Grey earlier, but I've been so busy, I haven't stopped by. My friend and I just released our new book for Halloween (first in a series) and it's free on Amazon today and tomorrow. Here's the link if you like adult romance, with just a little magic. Here's what we put on Amazon about it...

Maggie McCrae knew her granddaughters were not ready for the legacy she
must leave them. The house, the grounds and everything that went with
it would now be theirs. She vowed she would do all she could to protect
them and hopefully, give them the time they needed to fulfill their
destiny. Gabriella and Moira must learn to trust themselves and each
other, as they discover the true magic of Burrows Bay. First book in a
    series.

Here's part of the Prologue....so excited! Hope you like it : )

She placed the lavender and mint in the bowl, followed by the basil
and rue. Then the bit of tansy, the native plants that were written in
the book, as well as the sachet of secret spices handed down by her
great-grandmother. When all were carefully laid in the bowl, she took
the wooden match and lit the candle. The vanilla fragrance filled the
room and as she said the last line of the verse, the candle flared.
Probably a draft, but she smiled at the drama of the moment. She would take it as a good sign.

She poured a bit of the wax on the herbs and then added the rum. She
had forgotten the vodka, but the rum would have more meaning. She’d seen
that, in her mind’s eye and had decided to write it down in the book.
They might appreciate that, when they discovered their heritage. At the
last moment, she decided to take the bowl and candle out onto the
balcony. The last of the trespassers might appreciate the light show.
She could use all the help she could get.

    She waited until the
herbs had wilted in the rum and then she took a breath, as she readied
herself. With a final look out over the forest and bay, she began.

“This is for all who have come before, and all who will come after,”
she said, knowing these first words by heart. “For them and for myself, I
ask that everything we love and everything we guard, be protected by
the ancient spirits of this island and the ancestors from our Scottish
    homeland.”

She looked up at the night sky and continued, “I offer
all that I am and all that I will ever be, to ensure that the children
of my children find their way and be protected from the evils that walk
the earth and dwell in the hearts of weaker beings.”

    She took the
candle and quickly lit the herbs, now soaked with rum. The flames
jumped up and she took a step back, still watching the woods. “The evil
that knows no limit, no fullness, only hunger. I ask that all that is
good, light and helpful in this world watch over my children’s children
and help them on their journey. Give them the time they need to learn,
to grow and to become all they must, to protect everything we know and
    love.”

As she spoke, she raised her arms out to her sides and
then up to the sky. She could feel all her power, all her might,
draining from her. But she kept going, until the words were finished....
