Lana replied to your question: "The evergreen shrubs around the pond were chamaecyparis pisifer aurea, a weeping tamarisk, a dwarf Alberta spruce, and a low ground cover juniper (that I forget the exact cultivar), and background cedars. The pond is sheltered by the house and the cedar hedge and so is not in a windy area. The Alberta spruce and the chamaecyparis are wrapped in burlap to prevent them from trying to growing before the ground has unthawed."
