Small Powder Room Makeover

We removed a cabinet vanity from the far wall and the round front toilet from the left wall. It was an awkward setup in this tiny PR having to walk past the toilet to use the sink; not to mention that there was not enough clearance to open the left vanity door.

We purchased a pedestal sink and elongated 17" high toilet and after a few hits and misses came up with the placement in the photo. We were planning on building out a half wall in the corner behind the toilet. As opposed to spending a fortune getting a triangular tank to fit the toilet. It would be just an inch or two above the tank.

Walls will be wainscot with a glass tile inlay at approx 37" .

Need opinions.... Will this work and look ok?

Does the toilet need to be at an angle now that you don't have the vanity on the back wall?

Unfortunately yes. It's an elongated toilet and the width of the room is only 43". We tried putting it on the back wall where the vanity was, but it seemed too close to the sink edge. I suppose we could have gone with a smaller profile sink but I didn't like the ones with no ledge around the sink bowl.

It's a very small powder room. We actually thought about ditching it entirely and turning it into a coat closet (which we don't currently have).

It makes the toilet the focal point of the room.

    Feedback much appreciated.

I think maybe a toilet in the corner is just so uncommon that it looks off. They do make toilets specifically for this application though. Once we get the ugly wallpaper off we intend to take another look at placement of the fixtures. In order to have a comfortable distance between the sink and toilet it may be the only way to go.

    Thanks again.

    Here's a photo of a toilet made to g o in a corner.

While there isn't room for even a round-front toilet to sit square on the wall, have you thought about a wall-hung toilet?

I think a wall hung toilet would be bestin this space.

    Good luck!

I think I'd just center the toilet on the back wall and use nice finishes...

Wall hung, what a great idea!

21" minimum, 30" recommended for clearance from the front of the bowl to the opposite wall. Its what I read online.

I wanted wall hung toilets when we renovated-- they look so great for cleaning! I just couldn't justify the expense. i don't recall the price, but there was no question it was out of budget for us. We did put in outlets for washlets, though :-)

I hate toilets that are set on an angle. Center the toilet on the wall with the black shelf. I think that's what a person walking into the PR expects to see, as customary.

It doesn't bother me, you have to do what is the best for the space you have .. and that might mean a toilet at an angle.
