Wouldn't mind seeing tree top.

Yeah, post a more zoomed in pic for particulars. I am generally for leaving the leaves on until the tree is established.

My suggestion would be to get rid of the well surrounding the tree and, if the tree has been in there for more than a short time, inspect for misformed roots.

Steven, if i could see the top, I could answer your question with the greatest of ease. I mean, are those trunk suckers most of the leaves on the plant? Or is there a full crown above? In any case, I strongly doubt you have an emergency need to prune the tree on your hands.

Sorry I do not have a Better picture of tree right now. I'll have it posted later this evening

Pictures I took tonight.

Looks like a recent planting. I'd do nothing for at least 3, maybe even 5 years.

Remove the lower branching, and make it grown upward.

^ are you competing with the Halloween puppets?

Halloween? It's time for Christmas.

Top of my desk in the office:

I have tinsel garand, twinkling lights, a tree topper in a can, reindeer marquee light, snowman, wire tree, and a large cup with a schlumbergera (christmas cactus) sitting inside it. Put some Christmas lights on the tree after you trim it.

you are thinking in terms of instant gratification ...

you have to think in tree time ... this thing could be there for 50 to 100 years ... whats your hurry ...

leaves are food making machines.. and right now.. . you need every one it has.. to grow a root mass to grow the top ...

agree with junkie.. do nothing for 3 to 5 years ... MAYBE at the end of next season .. remove the lowest branch ....

the tree well doesnt bother me.. but i would be more interested whether the root flare is at or above ground level ...

lawn sprinklers are not proper to rely on.. for water.. with this young transplant...

Is that a little baby sycamore? don't do anything. let it grow. in a few years you remove some lower limbs

won't hurt to remove them now. 30 trees and counting, I always do pruning like this before planting.

Most modern research shows little to nothing to be gained by removing foliage/branches at so young a stage.....plenty of time to make corrections and so on later. Leaves =food-making machines-only such system in the universe so far as we know-and wanton removal for some shape considered ideal , but far into the future, not supported.

That's a sycamore, it will shed those little branches all by it self when it's time for it. If it doesn't happen fast enough it can be done in a few years, no need doing it now.

Thanks for everyone's input.
